MPD urges people to use "Exchange Zones" for online buying/selling

MPD sent out a warning to residents this week, reminding people that there have been a series of robberies from people supposedly buying / selling things from online sites like Craigslist. Basically, you find a great deal, agree to meet up some place and you end up getting robbed instead of selling your old iPhone. 

MPD wants you to be safe, and consider using one of their "Exchange Zones."

While cleaning out her Aunt Edna’s DC apartment, Linda discovered old beauty products and supplies, posters, handbills and other significant items that she donated to the NMAAHC to add to their collection.

Broken street light? Get it fixed in a hurry this week with a text message.

Those buzzing orange or yellow street lights keep the stars hidden from view at night, but they also help keep people safe on the street and alleys. When they break, getting DC to fix them can be a real challenge, to put it mildly.

To help address that, the Mayor's office is pushing a "week-long effort to identify street light outages across the District," according to a press release sent out yesterday by the Mayor's office. Along with the street light initiative, they're also launching "Text to DC311" as a new way of reporting issues for repair.
