DDOT issues abound at ANC 4C August meeting

DDOT issues abound at ANC 4C August meeting

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C met on August 10th and had what amounted to be a typically wonky meeting. MPD talked about 14th Street, DDOT presented and answers questions from the ANC (sans Director Dormsjo), and the topic of bike lanes and safety along New Hampshire Avenue got both the commissioners and the community in a tizzy.

Pepco, grants and more: notes from ANC 4C July meeting

A quicker than usual Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting, ANC 4C ran through the agenda in an hour and a half, discussing Pepco issues, ANC Omnibus Act of 2016, CitiOpen tournament, the Office of the People’s Council, Slash Run, and a few grants.

(Ed note: My thanks to Sean Wieland for writing the below notes and photos at this meeting! Sean previously helped out at the ANC meeting by taking their official minutes during the very long April 2016 meeting.)

Meet Jonah Goodman, ANC 4C commissioner

Meet Jonah Goodman, ANC 4C commissioner

Since Petworth News started last year, I’ve invited all sitting ANC 4C and 4D commissioners to participate in interviews in a series called “Better Know a Commissioner!” The goal is to help residents to get to know the people who volunteer their time to represent constituents needs on the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions.

Today I’m happy to introduce Jonah Goodman, who is the ANC Commissioner for ANC 4C in Single Member District 4C10. Jonah took the place of Kathleen Crowley, who resigned in early Spring of this year.

CM Silverman, Grants and an attempt at Decorum; notes from ANC 4C June meeting

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C meeting on June 8th was as interesting and at times as tumultuous as any of the meetings this year have been. The main sticking point for this meeting was Commissioner Jonah Goodman's effort to approve a Code of Conduct for ANC 4C. Also at the meeting, At-Large DC Councilmember Elissa Silverman spoke about her team's projects and successes with vacant and blighted properties, commissioners gave various updates and Goodman also got the updated Grant requirements passed. Read on, McDuff...

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C meets on Wednesday, June 8th at 6:30pm the Petworth Library. Inside is the draft agenda for the meeting, subject to change (for example, there's been an incredibly painful back and forth over including the Code of Conduct proposed by Commissioner Jonah Goodman, so hopefully that one stays in the agenda).

Community meeting on working with young adults & returning citizens

Commissioner David Sheon sent out an email that I meant to share. He's scheduled a second meeting at the Brightwood United Methodist Church (8th & Jefferson St NW) at 6:30 tonight (May 31st) to talk more about non-judicial ways to help at-risk youth and returning citizens. If you live in the area or are concerned about the ways to help reduce crime while helping those most in need of support, you should consider attending. Read Commissioner Sheon's email...
