Christine Lilyea finds her dream job and an unexpected treasure at Slash Run

With years of experience managing restaurants and music venues, Christine Lilyea realized what started out as just a job became a career. When she took over Slash Run in 2018 after managing it for two years, she knew she found her dream job. She manages both the kitchen and the front of the house, it’s lot work.

"But I'm up for it," she says. "I didn't know this was going to be as difficult as it is, but I just don't stop. I keep going. As long as I keep pushing, it works."

A quicker than usual Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting, ANC 4C ran through the agenda in an hour and a half, discussing Pepco issues, ANC Omnibus Act of 2016, CitiOpen tournament, the Office of the People’s Council, Slash Run, and a few grants.

Brittany Kademian is getting ready to run the Boston marathon on April 18th in honor of those who are fighting cancer. Dinner at Slash Run, a review of Petworth's newest tavern

My family decided to check out the new tavern on Upshur St called Slash Run. Owned by Jackie Greenbaum and Gordon Banks (who also own the restaurants El Chucho and Bar Charley), along with their partners Nick Nazdin and Ellen Cox, the new Tavern opened on Thursday to rave reviews from neighbors. 

We went in early on a Sunday evening mainly to make sure our 4 year old had dinner at her regular time (don't upset the time schedule of a 4 year old, or you'll pay -- all day long).
