The story of Alexander Hamilton the first Secretary of Treasury is brilliantly told by Lin-Manuel Miranda through a combination of glowing lyrics that encompass hip hop, jazz, blues, rap and R&B. The choreography at times is fast moving and high energy with a cast that is predominantly people of color. What a creative way to tell the story!
Hamilton is currently on a 14-week run at the Kennedy Center through September 16th. If there is any way you can participate in this phenomenon, do it!

Capitol Cider House is the passion of Jared Fackrell, and after months and months of hard work, it’s almost ready to open. With 40 different styles of cider, a small menu of food, a shuffleboard and plenty of indoor and pet-friendly outdoor seating, it’ll be a great new addition to the Petworth restaurant scene.

And, now as Hinton, the Dean of Culture at Powell Bilingual Elementary School in Petworth, prepares to retire on August 4th, he is especially proud of the impact he has had on current and former students.
“It is hard to believe 50 years have gone by,” says Hinton. “It doesn’t feel like 50 years because I enjoyed what I have been doing and working with kids has kept me youthful.”
