Jazz returns to Petworth once again on Saturday, June 30th for another stellar program.

Drummer, educator and bandleader Nasar Abadey comes to Petworth Jazz with Marshall Keys on alto sax, Mike Pavone on guitar, and James King on bass.

And kids' favorite Baba Ras D starts everything off at 6pm, and Mr. Abadey and his band go on at 7pm.

The DC Jazz Festival presented Mr. Abadey this month with its Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his stellar contributions to the art form of jazz. It's definitely pretty cool that he's playing in the neighborhood!

Nasar Abadey creates music which he refers to as "Multi-D": multi-dimensional, multi-directional.

Abadey began playing drums at age five. Drawing influences from powerhouse drummers such as Tony Williams, Max Roach, Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, and his cousin, Frankie Dunlop, Nasar Abadey creates jazz music steeped in modal, free form, and avant-garde styles. Currently Mr. Abadey is a Professor of Jazz Percussion in the Jazz Studies Department at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Smoking Kow BBQ food truck will there for your dining delight!
