7th armed robbery possibly connected to recent spree
/
A seventh armed robbery, this one involving a handgun, took place at El Don Restaurant (4401 14th St NW) in Petworth on the evening of January 12th. Police are treating this robbery, which occurred at 11:30pm Friday night, as connected to the prior crimes, said MPD Captain Brian Bray.

With housing prices and rents going up, a projected 1,000 new residents moving into the city per month and a lack of affordable housing, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) are sparking interest. New DC zoning regulations mean residents can convert basements or outdoor structures into rental units.
There is a happy hour / information session on ADUs this upcoming Tuesday, January 16th at 6pm at Petworth Citizen.

MPD Lt. Anthony Washington, who manages the Police Service Area 407, held a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, December 21st to discuss crime and other issues in the Petworth area. (PSA 407 covers most of central Petworth). Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd and his staff were in attendance, along with a large contingent of residents.
