You’ve seen these odd-shaped metal posts on the streets in Petworth and around DC, even if you didn’t know what they were. Almost all are painted and some, like the ones in Mt. Pleasant, have been converted to miniature art installations. (There’s one on 16th Street that has tennis balls stuffed inside.)

Updated: Worker was stuck on tower by MPD 4th District, rescued by DC Fire & EMS [video]

A maintenance worker is currently stuck on the towers up by the Fourth District police station.

Reportedly, the worker went up the tower at 10am this morning to do maintenance. Around 1:30 this afternoon he made a distress call, saying he was suffering from hypothermia.

Fire on Randolph St NW leaves family of 6 displaced, but no injuries

A fire suddenly broke out at 705 Randolph Street NW shortly after 3pm on Wednesday. DC Fire and EMS arrived very quickly with about nine different trucks and dozens of firefighters. Three adults and three children live in the home, and at least three were in the house when the first started. Everyone escaped without harm.
