We’re excited to host a new voice at Petworth News!
/by Ereftu Patel
I am delighted to announce that I have joined the Petworth News team as a student intern for the remainder of my academic year.
As a passionate student with an interest in journalism and community engagement, the opportunity to intern at Petworth News was a natural fit for me. I spend a good portion of my time at the E.L. Hanes field playing soccer. From time to time, my family and I enjoy a bite at Slash Run and volunteer at the Old Soldiers Home and DC Thrive, but I have always felt that I could be more engaged with my community, so I reached out to Petworth News to ask for an internship, and they happily agreed.
I moved to Petworth three years ago, at the start of my freshman year at School Without Walls High School. Despite moving only a few miles away, I still enjoy the new setting.
Throughout my internship, I will be committed to listening to your concerns and sharing stories that resonate with the citizens of Petworth. I hope to serve as a bridge between Petworth News and the community, representing a younger voice on the site.
I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received from the Petworth News team and the community at large. It is a privilege to serve my local community and enter the world of journalism.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you, and I invite you to reach out to me at epatel@petworthnews.org with your stories, ideas and feedback.
