National poetry month is here, and so is DCPL’s annual Haiku Contest!
/by Ereftu Patel
In celebration of National Poetry Month, DCPL is hosting its annual Haiku Contest. Poets of all ages are welcome; residents aged 6 and up are invited to submit two haiku either online or with a paper entry at participating libraries.
The Petworth Library has two "haiku stations": one on the 1st floor and another on the 2nd floor in the children's area. Here, you can find more information and pick up a paper entry. For online submissions, use this entry form.
Each participating library will select a winner in the following age categories: Children (6-12), Teen (13-19), and Adult (20+). Prize winners will receive library swag and have their poem displayed in the library and on the DC Public Library's website in May! There is a limit of two entries per person.
Learn more about the contest on the DC Library's website.

Summer isn’t over yet! The Parks at Walter Reed has a full lineup of family-friendly neighborhood events coming up from August and into November, including free concerts, outdoor fitness classes, dancing, flea markets, community festivals and a massive used book sale.
