Help support veterans and the Friends of the Soldiers Home

I'm a big fan of the Friends of the Soldiers Home, and try to volunteer with them when I can. They do great events like "Jingo night" (like bingo but with pictures instead of numbers) as well as a fun Saloon night, where volunteers chat with and serve drinks and food to veterans during live music and other events. They also put on the July 4th events, Oktoberfest and other community events at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.

They're looking for support from neighbors to help meet their funding goals. As we move into the holiday season, bear in mind that every dollar helps.

Here's an email from the Friends:

Dear Friend,

Four years ago this month, Friends of the Soldiers Home began the effort to connect Veterans of the Armed Forces Retirement Home with their neighbors in Washington, D.C.

Thanks to the support of you and so many others, we have accomplished a great deal, including:

 - more than 150 monthly volunteer events, such as Jingo, Happy Hour and Saloon Night
 - nine community festivals, including Fourth of July, Oktoberfest and Spring Fling
 - volunteer gardening, holiday tree lightings and veteran concerts and trips

We need your help to continue this great work! Please consider making an online contribution by clicking the "donate'' button on our website, friendsofsoldiers.org. If you prefer to write a check, please address to Friends of the Soldiers Home, Post Office Box 3170, Washington, DC 20010. We appreciate all the support we receive!

So many of you have helped to ensure that we are able to meet our mission to the Armed Forces Retirement Home - service, education and engagement. And we do it through the generosity and support of good Friends like you!

Warmest regards,

Mary Bucci, President
