We are averaging one shooting every four days now.
Add one more shooting to the numbers as there was a shooting at Georgia Avenue and Quincy Street NW around 9:30pm. This was the same location as the scene of a shooting on Monday, May 25th.

The planter was full of soil and a plant, and at about 2 1/2 feet long and a foot and a half tall, was pretty heavy.

Representatives from MPD, the US Attorney’s Office and the DC Attorney General’s Office addressed the crowd and offered suggestions for how to counter neighborhood gun violence.

In the early evening of Thursday, February 13th, MPD was involved in a shootout with a suspect in an alley off of 8th and Upshur. At least six shots rang out, residents walking home dove for cover, an officer was injured, and after a pursuit with police, a young man was gravely shot.

Fortunately, Buna has a lot of security cameras, so MPD was able to get images of the people responsible for the burglary.

Read MoreOn Monday September 16, 2019, two incidents of gun fire impacted our community near 4th and Taylor Streets. In total, 40+ rounds of bullets were shot in the direction of a house and/or individuals in our community. Bullets hit several houses and the community is scared and angry.
