FYI: MPD releases new non-emergency reporting procedures during Covid

To help the police deal with calls for service, the Metropolitan Police Department is requesting residents use a new online form to submit non-emergency police reports. You should continue to use 911 for all emergency needs, and call 311 for non-emergency and city service requests.

If you need to file a police report — say someone drive past your car and knocks off a side mirror, or stole your bookbag from your car, for example. You can use their online form to submit a non-emergency police report for the following:

  • Lost property

  • Lost vehicle tags

  • Theft/theft from auto*

  • Destruction of property

  • Damage to property

*Thefts, in which your checkbook, debit, credit card, social security card or social security number, etc. may have been stolen and/or used to purchase other items or services, are considered credit card fraud and/or identity theft, and should not be filed online using the application.

Instructions on how to fill out the form are on the MPD website.
