There is an interesting thread on the DC subreddit about an attempted home break-in last night near Upshur and 14th Street. Reddit user itsmywanderingmind writes that her roommate came home late at night, and was followed by a man back to their shared house. The man tried to open the door several times, the roommates called MPD, but the man ended up leaving before police arrived. 

The roommates found themselves a bit frozen with what to do ("standing around frantically" is the pretty descriptive phrase she used in her post). Commenters on Reddit made some suggestions on what to do...

It hadn’t been well-maintained, hadn’t been updated in decades and was sitting vacant with holes in the walls and ceilings. DPW street cleaning and alternate side of the street parking begins Tuesday, March 1st (through October 31st). DPW will give out warning tickets until Friday, March 4th — after that, it’s a $45 ticket if you’re parked on the side being cleaned. Or you could get towed.

When it was first announced, the idea behind the “Private Security Camera Incentive Program” was if you buy an outdoor security camera, DC would provide a rebate to cover the cost. All residents, businesses and churches were eligible — but now that the program launched this week, it seems not everyone is eligible, especially if you live in Petworth.
