It’s all about the neighborhood
Capitol Cider House opened officially on Saturday, July 21st, and threw a party on Friday the 20th to get things started. For the benefit of the community, I tried almost all the ciders available on the tap, and after I wobbled my way home in good humor, here's my thoughts on Petworth's latest bar and hang out.

If you're looking for another free, outdoor jazz show that's great for the whole family, The Parks at Walter Reed has a series great jazz shows starting this weekend, Saturday, July 21st from 4-7pm.
The shows are presented by The Parks at Walter Reed, working with Petworth's own local jazzman Tom Pipkin -- which means it'll be a great show for neighbors to come out and enjoy.

The story of Alexander Hamilton the first Secretary of Treasury is brilliantly told by Lin-Manuel Miranda through a combination of glowing lyrics that encompass hip hop, jazz, blues, rap and R&B. The choreography at times is fast moving and high energy with a cast that is predominantly people of color. What a creative way to tell the story!
Hamilton is currently on a 14-week run at the Kennedy Center through September 16th. If there is any way you can participate in this phenomenon, do it!

I know Tom Pipkin pretty well.
