"So many options..." a Petworth taqueria taste-test

Last month, newly minted Taqueria del Barrio on Upshur Street joined Taqueria Habanero and Mezcalero Cocina Mexicano on 14th Street to form a sort of Petworth "taqueria trifecta" of taquerias. Three trendy taco joints, all opened recently or in the last few years, at all around the same price point, within half a mile of each other. When you want a taco, what's a hungry resident to do?

There's a new date for Celebrate Petworth, chance to get involved

The Celebrate Petworth festival is usually the first week of June, but this year it has been moved to the Fall to accommodate schedules, permits, etc. This year's festival looks to be bigger, with more food, more stages and hopefully beautiful Fall weather.

Taqueria del Barrio brings something new to Upshur Street… dinner reservations

After being open a few weeks, Taqueria del Barrio (821 Upshur St NW) has decided to start offering reservations for dinner. They have new operating hours as well (opening at 4pm), with brunch and lunch coming in a few months.

Petworth Park set for renovations in Mayor's budget

In the mayor’s recent budget request for DC, $2 million dollars has been earmarked for improvements at the popular Petworth Park and Recreation Center (8th and Taylor Streets NW). The park is heavily used by the community, from kids having a great time in the spray park in the summer and playing on the playground almost year round, while the grassy area is used for soccer and other outdoor activities, including the summertime Petworth Jazz Project. Taqueria Del Barrio looks to bring a taste of Mexico to Upshur Street

The new restaurant on Upshur wants to excite your taste buds with original and traditional Mexican dishes, with a focus on great flavor.

For dining options, Upshur Street has a diner, a Japanese-inspired restaurant, a Latin wine bar, a cocktail bar, a saloon, a wood-fired oven pizza place and heck, even a fast-food Chinese restaurant. And opening Thursday, March 30th, it also has a Mexican restaurant, Taqueria Del Barrio.

Help paint some benches at Grant Circle

Join Friends of Grant Circle this Sunday, April 2nd at 10 am to help keep Grant Circle looking great! Last year, we painted all the benches inside the Circle. This week we'll tackle the benches around the playground on the north side (5th and Webster). We'll deadhead the daffodils that have finished blooming and pickup trash as well.
