There's a new date for Celebrate Petworth, chance to get involved

Celebrate Petworth Festival, 2016

The Celebrate Petworth festival is usually the first week of June, but this year it has been moved to the Fall to accommodate schedules, permits, etc. This year's festival looks to be bigger, with more food, more stages and hopefully beautiful Fall weather.

Founder Tom Pipkin sent out an email to the local listservs today:

Our neighborhood celebration and festival will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 from 11am to 5pm.

The location remains the same as last year: Upshur Street NW from 8th Street to Georgia Ave, and 9th Street between Taylor Street and Varnum Street.

As always we will present great local vendors, a music mainstage, a kids stage, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, the Petworth History Tent, Dog Show, Fun Run, food trucks, select Farmers Market vendors, and all of our great Upshur Street businesses.

We are working on adding another stage (9th and Varnum) to present theater, dance, and comedy! We will also add more chairs, tents, and tables. Oh, and rumor has it there is a dunk tank in the works, because dunk tanks are awesome.

Thanks Petworth, you rock!
