This weekend's Literary Cocktails at the Petworth Citizen Reading Room, brought to you by Chantal Tseng, will be inspired by sci-fi wizards Ursula K. Le Guin and Philip K. Dick, compatriots of both genre and middle initial. Come by the Reading Room (at the back of Petworth Citizen) starting Friday night at 7pm to try out the original and interesting concoctions created by Chantal, as she pays homage to these literary greats. If you miss tonight, Chantal is also hosting the series on Saturday night.

Powell Spring Carnival is May 14 -- everyone is invited!

The Parents group at Powell Elementary, "Parents Organized for the Power of Powell" (or POPPS for short) is having it's 2nd Annual Spring Carnival, and they're inviting the entire community to come out and have fun on Saturday, May 14th from 10am - 3pm at the football field at Roosevelt High School. Food, fun, a raffle and more.

Petworth Community Farmer's Market opens Saturday, May 7th

It's time to get your fresh on! The Petworth Community Farmer's Market launches its 2016 season this Saturday, May 7th at 9am!

The Petworth Community Market will run from 9am -1pm each Saturday, May through November. They have been busy during the off-season recruiting new vendors and planning fun activities and are excited about the variety of awesome vendors, music, and activities they have to offer, both returning and new.

Spring Fling at the AFRH is the fun way to start the outdoor season in Petworth

For the past four years, Friends of the Old Soldiers' Home, a volunteer group that sponsors activities at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (Upshur & Rock Creek Church Rd), has put on the Spring Fling, an outdoor festival complete with great food, beer and drinks, music, a nature walk, games and more.

BloomBars in Columbia Heights is hosting an "Art of Adornment Spring Craft Fair" on May 1st from 1-5 pm. Featuring a mix of artists and creators offering different items like pottery and jewelry, kids accessories and bags and wallets. Notes from ANC 4C's long April meeting

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C met on Wednesday, April 13th. A very full agenda, the meeting included a brief presentation by DC Attorney General Karl Racine. I think the stress of having a very full agenda caused the commission to speed through the agenda items, and the meeting actually ended a bit early. A win for your neighborhood note-taker, but it was a rushed meeting.
