No, it's not a huge crime scene... it's "Beat the Streets," the annual street fair put on by MPD and DC agencies on 9th Street between Upshur and Taylor Streets NW. It started at 2pm and goes until 7pm on Wednesday, July 26th.

End of a summer month in Petworth means it's time for the Petworth Jazz Project, one of the best free concerts and community events in DC. This month's show should be awesome, and is sponsored by a few of the local Upshur Street businesses. The show starts at 6pm on Saturday, July 29th on the lawn at Petworth Park (8th and Taylor Streets NW).

It took a bit of wrangling but the Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the movie for their Movie Night Out at Petworth Park (8th & Taylor Streets NW) on Thursday, July 27, 2017 8:30pm to 11pm... and apparently the movie that'll be shown will be up for a vote.

The Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) Bike Ambassadors are planning to hit the streets with Ward 4 residents for a mobile traffic safety workshop on Thursday, July 13th at 6:30pm. The workshop will consist of a 5-mile bike ride, and discussion about how to make intersections along the route safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Special attention will be paid to the intersections at 14th and Spring Streets and Georgia Avenue and Kennedy Street.

The second Petworth Jazz Project of this summer featured the jazz band Colonies, who absolutely killed it that night. The music was great, and if you missed it, well, you're probably not reading this article. If you were there you were treated to a phenomenal show by Baba Ras D for the kids and Colonies after that.
