RISERS FEST brings music, comedy, art, vendors and more to Hook Hall on Aug 20th

RISERS FEST is a self-described celebration of art, music, comedy and food, and it's coming to Hook Hall (3400 Georgia Ave NW) on August 20th, starting at 11am.

With a full line up of musical talent, the stage is set for a phenomenal all day event of discovery and good vibes for attendees and an opportunity for artists to connect with each other.

They're featuring local and touring artists, like Nicole Yun (of Dream Pop Pitchfork Darlings Eternal Summers) as well as Ammonite. You'll also see Anthony Pirog (of D.C.'s The Messthetics), Cor de Lux (NC), Kinda Evil (DC), Natural Velvet (Baltimore, MD), Same Heads (D.C.), KENMUJO (NYC), Heinous Crime (DC), E. Joseph and the Phantom Heart (Baltimore, MD) and The Silence Kit (Philadelphia, PA/NJ).

The music inside is ticketed, while out in Hook Hall's outside space, the Garden, all events are free.

There will be comedians, clothing vendors and artists live painting.

Come enjoy comedians Patrice DeVeaux, Mara Feiner, Christine O'Dea Joe Pappalardo and Conner McCrone on the outside stage, which will follow the acoustic acts during the day.

The musicians outside are Rachael Kline of DC’s very own Flowerbomb, Teething Veils, Freaky Wilderness, Jamie Green of DC indie rock band Greenland, I Choose Izumi, David Stevenson and Unicorn Van.

Live painters include Mary O'Brien, Bri Pippens and Destine Clair. Michael Auger will be displaying his artwork inside of the Hall with a focus on black light artwork. There will be a lot of vendors with a heavy emphasis on vintage clothing. You'll find Craving Vintage, Retro Rewind DC, Insomnia Vintage, 93Vintage, GoRickGo, Death By Narwhals, Alex Halaszyn, Artivism, Aviator Club, DMV Dissociated Press, ATOMI and more.

RISERS is devoted to creating a positive and appreciative environment, fostering hard working artists on the rise for an audience craving the next big thing.

RISERS is donating $1,000 from proceeds to THIS COULD GO BOOM! A local non-profit, TCGB! supports gender diversity in music and strives for gender equity in music through record label services, professional development, community outreach, education and performance opportunities for musicians and music industry workers whose genders have long been underrepresented, marginalized and excluded.
