A group of volunteers is organizing a clean up on Piney Branch in the Rock Creek Park to commemorate Indigenous People’s Day on Monday, October 9th. Their message below:

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day 2023 by joining us on Monday, October 9 from 10am to 12pm, helping neighborhood volunteers clean-up trash and learning about the Piney Branch valley. Help us pickup Petworth's part of Rock Creek Park! Learn about how long ago indigenous peoples once used the valley as a quarry and how today volunteers with the Rock Creek Songbirds project and others are helping to restore the wetland and native trees.

All are welcome. This is a family event.
