Petworth is doing a clean up day, and you're invited to help!

It takes everyone’s help to keep things clean, and as they say, many hands make light work.

That’s why Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C is spearheading a Petworth Community Clean-Up on Saturday, April 29th from 10am-12pm. Each ANC 4C Commissioner plans to lead a clean-up effort in their SMD.

In addition to cleaning up trash, Petworth Blooms plans to facilitate volunteers planting flowers and plants, weeding and more beautification efforts in Grant Circle.

All clean-up supplies (gloves, trash bags, pickers) from the Mayor's office of The Clean City will be provided by ANC Commissioners and/or Petworth community groups at each clean-up starting point, and every participant will receive one free pizza, courtesy of Cafe Vino Food Truck!

This clean-up is also a good opportunity to meet your ANC Commissioner in person and discuss any neighborhood issues or needs for your locally elected representative to assist with. You do not have to live within the ANC 4C boundaries to participate in this clean-up; all are welcome.

You can sign to let them know you’re volunteering  - or simply show up!

Clean-up starting locations:

4C01 (Commissioner Casey Swegman): Meet at Webster and Georgia (the Buna Café Corner) and concentrate on the areas around McFarland and Roosevelt as well as Georgia Ave and Upshur Street as that area often has the most trash.

4C02 (Commissioner Antoine Kirby): Meet at 4000 Georgia Ave (7-11) parking lot. The focus will be on the Georgia Ave corridor and 14th Street NW.

4C03 (Commissioner Thomas DeFranco): Begin at Spring Flats (1125 Spring Rd NW) and then turn up 10th Street and conclude by doing clean up at Raymond Rec Center.

4C04 (Commissioner Daniel Alexander): Start at 14th and Spring, and focus on that corner/block up to at least Quincy Street NW.

4C05 (Commissioner Brittany Kademian): Meet at corner of 7th and Webster, focus on cleaning up trash around schools: first, on all four sides of EL Haynes PCS (we will go up 8th to Kansas to Buchanan, and back down 7th) followed by cleaning up trash near Center City PCS.

4C06 (Commissioner Karen Livingston): Meet at the Triangle Park at the intersection of Shepherd and New Hampshire. We will be focusing on selected alleyways in the SMD around that area.

4C07 (Candidate Eric Heller): Start at New Hampshire Ave and Taylor St intersection, and work your way southbound on New Hampshire Ave.

Petworth Blooms: Grant Circle (planting/weeding/etc)

Petworth Peanuts: Grant Circle Playground park (just north of Grant Circle)

Friends of Petworth Park: Petworth Park (8th and Taylor), Petworth Playground, and the alley.

Also, this.
