Gumbo Records celebrates one year with gumbo cookoff this week

Gumbo Records and the Gumbo Lounge opened up last year to sell antiques, collectibles and old records at 205 Upshur St NW. They're celebrating their one year anniversary with a gumbo cook-off on Wednesday, October 26th from 7:30pm - 10pm and you're invited. Better yet, bring a gumbo dish and win a prize or two!

"Last year at the opening party, we had a little friendly gumbo cook-off," writes owner Noah David. "This year, we're gonna take it to the next level, with a cook-off pitting us good old 'regular folk against local DC restaurant gumbo. That's right! High falootin' gourmet gumbo!"

They want you to enter your best gumbo recipe.

"Folks, we got prizes lined up, and all entrants will get 5 free records out of our special gumbo anniversary collection," Noah said. "RSVP via email by Tuesday night, or just show up with a pot of gumbo."

"We'll be serving gumbo, cornbread, and beer/wine, but please feel free to BYOB as well."

You can follow their social media accounts @gumborecords on Instagram and Facebook for more updates.
