A Celebration of Art in the Park: First Annual Petworth Arts Fest

A new art event joins the active line-up of community programs centered on the Petworth Park on Saturday, June 9th from 4pm to 9pm. A brainchild of the Petworth Arts Collaborative (PAC), Petworth Arts Fest will feature various professional DC artists, live installations and performances to engage neighbors and our surrounding community through the arts. The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of Petworth Park and the Friends of Lincoln’s Cottage.

“We are excited to celebrate art in the park, encouraging both neighbors and artists to participate in interactive multidisciplinary art forms,” says co-founder Maria Mandle. “I’m most looking forward to seeing neighbors and artists co-creating; from a large-scale woven installation along the fence to a 20 foot nature-inspired mandala on the basketball court.”

The Arts Fest will be held on the basketball court at the Petworth Recreation Center at 801 Taylor St NW, where you'll find:

  • Visual artists
  • Pride of Place poster contest
  • Live musicians
  • Live muralist
  • Dance company
  • Theater company
  • Weavers
  • Family-friendly activities and more
  • 80’s dance party finale

Help make it happen! Petworth Arts Collaborative is also seeking volunteers to assist with set-up and breakdown of the Arts Fest. If you are interested please contact Sara Herrera for details of how you can volunteer!
