If you are interested in free access to unique DC opportunities, especially right here in Petworth, President Lincoln’s Cottage is inviting you to join our Museum Social Impact in Practice Study (MSIIP) and help shape the future of museums.

By participating in the MSIIP study, you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy three great Cottage programs at no cost, and will be able to help us evaluate our impact by completing a survey. In addition to our signature tour and our landscape tour, we have a host of special programs this fall including our Homecoming, a Cottage Conversation on Lincoln and Douglass, a fun Two Faces Comedy Night, an opportunity to join our Fall Break family tours, and more.

MSIIP is a three-year initiative led by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), providing technical assistance to museum professionals seeking to measure their museum’s social impact.

“IMLS is continuing the program despite larger funding challenges, and we couldn’t be more grateful. This program is in line with our value of curiosity, and we are interested in learning from participants about how we are showing up in the community and what we could be doing better,” said Cameron Walpole, Associate Director of Interpretation and Public Programs at the Cottage. “We would love more involvement from our Petworth neighbors!”

This free program is a way to help shape the future of museums at a critical moment and enjoy some of the great activities at the Cottage.

If you love DC museums and want to support the field for free, this is the opportunity for you!
