With the first snow of the year comes a ton of activities in Petworth, including the opening of Lulabelle's Sweet Shop and the awesome Upshur Art & Craft Fair along the 800 block of Upshur.

To top it off is a great book sale at the Petworth Library!

The Petworth Library's holiday tradition continues on Saturday December 9th with the Friends' of the Library annual holiday book sale. So while shopping the Upshur Street Arts and Crafts Festival, cross Georgia Avenue and find amazing values in current and historic fiction and nonfiction.

Authors range from novelists Claire Massud and Richard Russo to New York Times columnist Tom Friedman on global warming and more. We have a Riverside Shakespeare for the connoisseur and Thomas the Tank for the new reader. As always, there will be a separate children's section, where our kids can get comfy on the mats and pick out their own books.

Prices continue to be awesome: $3 for adult books (4 for $10) and 50 cents for children's books, DVDs for $1.

Hours are 10 am to 3 pm, in the community room of the library.

The Friends’ book sales at Petworth Library are possible because of the generous donations of our neighbors who believe in read and pass it on. Donations can be left at the library information desk. But please, no more sets of encyclopedias from past generations. These should be recycled.
