Jasmine Byrd knows how to throw a party — that is, mixing a science-based, educational party with creativity and STEM learning for children. For the past five years, Jasmine has been working with local charter schools on after-school programs for kids in Pre-K 3 to 5th grade, and now is opening a store called Party Time STEAMing Engineers at 205 Upshur Street later in December.

The Petworth Recreation Center playground is set for a $2 million renovation by DC’s Departments of Parks and Recreation and General Services. The next (and final?) meeting prior to construction beginning is set for Tuesday evening, December 3rd, 6:30-8pm at the Raymond Recreation Center (3725 10th Street NW).

It’s going to be a bright holiday season in Petworth!
Local businesses are participating in the Lower Georgia Ave Main Street Holiday Lights event December 1st through the 31st to decorate their storefronts with lights and competing for awards. The resulting light show will include businesses along lower Georgia Avenue and the 800 block of Upshur Street.
