New cigar bar coming to Petworth

A recent notice from the Alcohol Beverage Control Board (ABRA) says that a new bar is coming to the Upshur area in Petworth, focusing on cigars as well as drinks.

This Saturday, August 25th, is the last Petworth Jazz Project of the 2018 season. It's been a great summer, with some amazing performances. This weekend's show closes out the season with Janelle Gill, a well-known jazz pianist who's played at the Kennedy Center and all over the world.
Capital Bikeshare station coming to Sherman Circle

The DC Department of Transporation is installing a Capital Bikeshare station just north of Sherman Circle on Kansas Avenue, increasing the availability of the docked bikes for residents.

After a recent surge in crime, residents in the Southwest Petworth portion of Ward 4 have been imploring MPD to bring their Narcotics and Special Investigations Division (NSID) to Ward 4 on a more permanent basis. The Ward 4 Councilmember, Brandon Todd, recently sent a letter to MPD's Chief Newsham requesting that MPD make this change happen.

A resident of Geranium Street NW was being kept awake last week by a jackhammer outside her home. She looked outside and saw it was a Washington Gas crew working out in the street, the same crew she had seen earlier in the day. She hadn't received any notice of the late night work, and curious, she sent an email to Washington Gas. They told her to get a subpoena for the information.
