It's not just the roadway that is being replaced on Piney Branch Parkway. The DC Department of Transportation plans to update miles of bike and pedestrian pathways across the Rock Creek Park. This will impact vehicle access to Piney Branch Parkway, as DDOT plans to close Piney Branch Parkway to westbound traffic, maintaining eastbound traffic.

The roadway doesn't have potholes, it has some random flat and smooth spots surrounded by gouges, bumps, crevices and canyons. Tom Pipkin, the creator of the local favorite Petworth Jazz Project, and the force behind the Celebrate Petworth Festival and the Petworth mural, is doing more than just asking those questions. Starting May 30th and going until June 9th, he's opening "Truth Among Liars," an art and cultural pop up on Upshur Street that will address the apparent absurdity of the answers. Every night is a different theme, and each night is going to be a cool experience.

A recent article from the Washington Business Journal reports that the Armed Forces Retirement Home (aka the Old Soldier's Home) has decided to bypass the normal comprehensive planning processes in DC for the redevelopment of their property and move forward with redeveloping 80 acres using a "federal action." In fact, AFRH will be the body to give out work permits and certificates of occupancy, not DC government.
