When my husband and I moved to Petworth last November, we were excited to see the neighborhood's growing offering of bars, restaurants and shops. One thing we didn't see so much of? Gyms. Particularly not affordable ones.

As night fell, shops and restaurants along the 800 block of Upshur Street gleamed with twinkly lights, holiday decorations, and wintry window dioramas. The First Birthday Celebration will start out at Petworth Citizen with drinks and toasting to its first year of ART & COMMUNITY ACTIVATION, then they're heading out to take a group photo at the Petworth mural. Come celebrate with this amazing group of local neighbors who volunteer their time to work hard to add exciting cultural events and experiences to Petworth.

DC Water has been in hot water this year with issues surrounding meter replacements and with extremely high IAC fees (Impervious Area Charge). Residents and area cemeteries and churches are seeing high bills, and have not been getting the best customer service from the utility. Even the DC Council is getting involved.
To help provide a path forward and communication, Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4D held a "Water Forum" in late October with residents and representatives from DC Water and the DC Committee on Transportation and the Environment. There were many new revelations concerning how DC Water retroactively charged residents and survey results from attendees. Take a look at the notes, they're worth reading.
