Non-profits help provide youth activities, job training, educational activities and more. Today is Giving Tuesday, an opportunity for you to give to the organizations who work every day on behalf of our community and our nation.

Here's a few worthy options:

DC SCORES

DC SCORES gives low-income kids an opportunity to write down their feelings in a personalized poetry journal, to freely express themselves in a safe-space classroom to their peers and coaches (without judgement), and finally to take the microphone and perform on stage in front of hundreds of people at the Poetry Slam!. Our program is FREE to participants' families. Donate to DC SCORES.

Community Carrot

This program was started when over 100 residents said they were fed up with shootings and crime, but they didn't want boost police presence beyond existing levels nor did they want more cameras. They want opportunities for our young adults to see an exciting path forward in their lives through entrepreneurship. Today, up to the first $2,000 we receive will be matched!  Donate to Community Carrot.

President Lincoln's Cottage

Did you know President Lincoln's Cottage is the only National Monument that does not receive federal funding? That means we can keep our doors open because of your support. Until 11:59 PM tonight you have the chance to give towards our award-winning education programs and preservation efforts.  Donate to President Lincoln's Cottage.

DC Public Library Foundation

With your gift today, we'll continue to educate, inform and enrich the lives of all District residents by providing them with the tools to excel in school, master a new language, understand new technologies and launch a career they can be proud of. Plus, we'll continue stocking our shelves (and digital shelves) with a collection of valuable books for research, self-improvement and pleasure. Donate to the Public Library Foundation.

Local Schools:

Powell Elementary

The money Powell Padres raises will be used to help our scholars, teachers, and the school. The 2016-2017 budget outlines Powell Padres financial support of the following items and more! Please help us raise enough money this year to help send the kids on more field trips, have their iPads repaired, receive holiday bags and more! Donate to Powell Padres parents' group.

West Elementary

At West, we seek to prepare our scholars for the world beyond the classroom. We’ve invested funds for high quality, individualized online curriculum, but still lack the updated technology for all scholars to access this curriculum on a consistent basis. We are in need of both desktops and laptops for our scholars, both to access the curriculum and to increase the time they spend researching and writing online, which is also a key skill scholars will need as they prepare for college and career.  Donate to West Elementary.
