Fourteen local restaurants are coming together on Tuesday, January 10th from 5-10pm to give back to the community and donate money to two good organizations. The restaurants will give 10% of their proceeds for the evening to Powell Elementary School and Celebrate Petworth. It's a great opportunity to try a new local restaurant or visit a favorite.

"First Friday" event this week, enjoy great sales, holiday windows and artwork along Upshur Street

The Petworth Arts Collaborative will kick off their first "First Fridays" event on Friday December 2, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. "First Fridays" will showcase different styles of art, performance and visual, in unconventional and unique places along the 800 block of Upshur Street. Businesses in the area will be offering discounts and sales, while featuring different artists in their stores.

Plus, for the second year in a row, some of the businesses along the 800 block of Upshur will showcase special window displays decorated for the holidays.

Definitely worth checking out.

Petworth is more than porches, it's an amazing diversity of background, skills, age and talent. One of the people who help shape the cultural fabric of Petworth is Bill Crandall. Bill has lived in Petworth for over a decade, and has long thought of ways to help encourage the creativity in our neighborhood. That effort starts at his home, with his own art and a free show at the Third Floor on Sunday, November 20th.
