The CVS at the corner of Van Buren and Georgia Avenue (6514 Georgia Avenue NW) was robbed at gunpoint on September 1st. MPD responded and ended up arresting one of the three suspects.
Here's what caught my eye in the report...
Suspect 3 is described as a light skinned black male approximately 5’8”, 200 pounds, wearing a black winter “puffy” coat with tan fur on the hood, black pants, and blue latex gloves.
In this heat, one of the suspects was wearing a puffy winter coat, the kind with the fur collar, and blue latex gloves? Wouldn't that be a giveaway to the store employees that something really weird was about to happen? Even at 6am, it was pretty warm out. Just saying, that's not a really subtle outfit for robbing a store during one off the warmest weeks this summer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here's the MPD report:
On Saturday, September 1, 2018, approximately 5:50am, members of the Fourth District received a radio run for an armed robbery in progress at the CVS store located in the 6500 b/o Georgia Ave. NW. Fourth District members arrived within seconds of receiving the call and tactical entered the location.
While inside, members made contact with three suspects in the rear of the store near the pharmacy counter. Suspect 1 was immediately subdued inside the location. Suspect 2 made good his escape through the front of the store and Suspect 3 exited through the store’s rear emergency exit.
Fourth District members pursued both the fleeing suspects on foot. Suspect 2 was last seen getting into a waiting dark colored sedan. Suspect 3 ran into the rear alley of the 1200 b/o Underwood St NW.
Fourth District members and police K9 officers conducted a thorough search of the area with negative results.
The lookout for suspect 2 is for a black male wearing all black. Suspect 3 is described as a light skinned black male approximately 5’8”, 200 pounds, wearing a black winter “puffy” coat with tan fur on the hood, black pants, and blue latex gloves.
Suspect 1 was arrested on scene and one firearm was recovered.
This was an outstanding job by Fourth District officers of interrupting an armed robbery in progress as well as arresting a suspect and recovering a weapon.
