An "Unsilent Night" comes to Sherman Circle on December 14th

Unsilent Night is a family-friendly, free music parade coming to Sherman Circle on December 14th — and you’re invited to participate.

The original musical parade for Unsilent Night was first created in 1992 by Phil Kline and performed in New York City, and it’s grown into an international event. It takes the form of a street promenade in which the audience becomes the performers by playing numerous tracks on boomboxes carried through city streets. It’s a mix of holiday caroling and electronic music, combined with neighborly fun and companionship.

The parade will start with neighbors gathering at Sherman Circle at 5:45pm. Shortly thereafter, we’ll press play on our devices at the same time, then head off for a musical walkthrough the holiday lights of Petworth and hopefully enchant the neighborhood. Approximately 30-45 minutes later, our walk will loop back to Sherman Circle where the music will conclude. For tips on what kind of music to bring, check the Unsilent Night website. There’s even an iPhone app and an Android app.

Sounds pretty cool!
