Introduction
I work for the DC Office of the People's Counsel and have lived in the neighborhood since 2008.  I am married and I have one child in K4 and we have an all white Siberian husky named Mini.

What's a hobby or something fun that you are interested in?
I enjoy so-bad-they're-good movies, Lord of the Rings, watching the Nationals and Pittsburgh Steelers and listening to all types of music.  I studied Shakespeare, English Literate and Theater at Penn State University.  I've played bass and guitar in both punk and jazz bands.  I have become the type of person that arranges my furniture to better suit my houseplants.  I am a coffee addict.

What are your qualifications?
I went to UDC Law and interned for Eleanor Holmes Norton on the Hill and her District offices.  I have worked for the Office of the People's Counsel since 2016 and I believe I have a strong grasp for constituent services.  I enjoying meeting neighbors and working together to solve our local issues.

What are the ANC meetings?
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  The meetings have been either virtual during the pandemic.

Are you going to hold SMD meetings?
I would like to gauge interest in a monthly meeting held virtually for my SMD to discuss issues that could be brought up in the larger ANC meeting.

Do you attend other meetings?
I attend most other ANCs in Ward 4.  For my job, I would often attend ANC's across the city, but especially in Wards 3 and 4.

Stephen’s Priorities
I think one of my main concerns is with city services. I think that one of the most important things an ANC can do is to help act as a voice for the residents to bring attention to issues in the neighborhood. I believe that public safety is a pressing issue in our SMD.

In recent years there have been trouble spots with crime that continue to require attention. I bike nearly everyday to and from work and understand how traffic issues have a negative impact on residents. I also live across the street from an elementary school and see how traffic patterns cause tension and create safety problems.

I am interested in preserving affordable housing in the SMD, but also about improving the housing stock available. I am concerned about quick "flips" and how they impact the neighborhood. In law school, I worked in the Landlord/Tenant and Housing and Community Development clinics and so I feel strongly about tenant's rights to safe and affordable housing. Also, I have heard from nearly all my neighbors about the pressing rodent problem that plagues our area.  I personally have caught over fifty rats in the last year alone. I feel we can work with property owners and the city to help mitigate the issue.

I love being a resident in our neighborhood and am always available to have a discussion about how to make improvements as a community.
