Bigger and better: Petworth PorchFest 2023 is April 22nd!

by Maya Gold

Petworth PorchFest is returning to Petworth for its third annual musical extravaganza. On Saturday, April 22nd, nearly 200 bands will take to the stage — that is, if by stage you mean 80 porches and parks around the neighborhood — from 2-6 pm.

Considering the first fest in 2021 had about eighty acts, the fest’s enormous growth speaks to its phenomenal success.

Much like previous years, the fest will start with a kickoff event at the main stage (Petworth Rec Center, 801 Taylor Street NW). Mayor Muriel Bowser and Councilmembers Janesse Lewis George and Christina Henderson will join the festivities.

Petworth Rec Center main stage lineup:

  • 2pm: Dior Ashley Brown

  • 3pm: Herb Scott

  • 4pm: Fanfaire

  • 5pm: Ayo

  • 6pm: UCB featuring Riz Tha Great

Musicians will perform hour-long sets across the neighborhood. Acts span a huge range of genres, from Pine Apple’s bluesy bossa nova funk to Heavy Rotation’s rock comedy.

“We build an even stronger and more diverse community through various music genres for everyone,” says Eddie Suarez of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, one of Petworth PorchFest’s sponsors. Check out the full schedule.
