New bookstore coming to Park View in December

I heard from Brightwood resident Pablo Sierra today that he's opening a new, family-focused bookstore in Park View called Walls of Books. As an avid reader (and admitted Kindle addict), I'm thrilled at the idea of another hardcopy bookstore opening up in the area.

According to Pablo, the store at 3325 Georgia Ave NW will have a "soft" opening on December 12th, with a grand opening later in January. At 2,400 square feet, the bookstore will offer "more than 30,000 affordable books to the neighborhood, a book trade-in program for store credit, and a wide selection of Melissa & Doug® children’s toys."

"We want to support the local reading and writing community by providing a family-friendly environment where people can attend culturally diverse events, participate in community centered programs, and buy and trade our affordable books," Pablo said. "This mission comes from my own love of reading and writing and what I’ve seen it do in my life – self-confidence, exposure to other’s ideas, and the need to explore our outer and inner worlds further… and now I have the opportunity to bring those same things, and hopefully more, to my community."

I can't wait to visit the store!

More info about the store can be found on the Walls of Books website.
