First Friday in September brings art, music and more along Upshur Street

The Petworth Arts Collaborative has its second-to-last First Friday event on September 6th this week along Upshur Street. From the organizers:

Another special First Friday in Petworth in collaboration with the teaching artists and organizations making an impact through ART for incarcerated individuals and returned citizens. 

We have teamed up with Justice Arts Coalition, Voices Unbarred, A Better Sentence, and others to showcase DC-area organizations providing arts opportunities inside prisons and jails, and to celebrate the work of incarcerated artists. 

Join us for an evening of poetry, theatre, and visual art on Friday, Sept. 6 from 6pm-9pm at WillowFia’s Fabulous Finds and Loyalty Bookstores, where you can view the captivating artwork.

  • 6pm-7:30pm // Mingle, view artwork at Loyalty Bookstores, Fia’s Fabulous Finds and Willow

  • 7:30pm-9:00pm // Performances at Willow: Theater by Voices Unbarred, Poetry Reading by A Better Sentence, film by Justice Arts Coalition ending with a Q &A with the teaching artists and organizations.

Artwork will remain on display at venues through the month of September.
