Final Summer Saturday's music on Upshur, Saturday the 18th

The FINAL Petworth Summer Saturdays show will take place Saturday, September 18th, from 5:30-7:00pm outside of Willow (843 Upshur Street), featuring local R&B cover band the Love Station.

This summer’s music was a gift to the neighborhood from Summer Saturdays' lead organizer Adrian Ferguson, owner of the Art of Noize gallery (821 Upshur Street). Thanks to the artists, sponsors (Timber Pizza, Rabih Chamas/Greenline Real Estate, and individual donors), Megan Flynn, and Julie Wineinger, owner of Willow and Lulabelle's, who has hosted the event.

“A Woman Amongst Men” featuring the work of DC photographer Nyeusi Mwezi. The works in this exhibition are comprised of photography, film and poetry, and chronicles Nyeusi’s travels within Accra, Ghana with a group of seven men, while creating balanced, healthy, and vulnerable experiences. “I feel that it is my responsibility as a female photographer, to hold space for eccentric perspectives on the presumptions of the male spirit. To predefine expectations and limit male characteristics to his ability to protect and provide, and carry a firm and tough exterior is unjust”, says Nyeusi.

The exhibition will remain on view through October 2nd.
