Friends of Emery are hosting a Community Day on Saturday, August 13th

by Cesse Ip

Did you miss out on DPR’s Late Night Hype at Emery Recreation Center on July 15th? It was an amazing night of fun, food, and community celebration at Ward 4’s own Emery Rec! In case that gives you FOMO, don’t fret because nonprofit group Friends of Emery is sponsoring a community day on Saturday, August 13th.

It’s an all-day affair from 12-8pm, so grab some blankets or chairs and bring your whole family.

There will be bounce houses and a video game truck for the kids, and food for the whole family. Local bands and DJs will also be performing throughout the day. Band genres run the gamut from Jazz artist Fitz Mason and Black Passion Band. Learn more about the event on EventBrite.

Friends of Emery is a local non-profit and is also still looking for funds to help sponsor this event. Learn more about the work they do in the community by reading this article about Coach Lou.

They are always accepting donations at their website!

A true nerd with two degrees in mathematics, writing came late to her, but she is looking forward to answering your questions about our community!
