Bill White, owner of Fish in the Hood, is in the hospital and his family could use your help

Bill White is an awesome guy. I first met him several years ago at his restaurant Fish in the Neighborhood on Georgia Avenue in Park View.

Known as “Fish in the Hood,” the restaurant is one of the best places in DC to get fresh seafood. The popular restaurant has gone through ups and downs, a fire, issues with his landlord and still has stayed open to serve the community.

Bill is in the hospital with a lung infection and collapsed lung, and doesn’t have insurance. His step-mother has organized a GoFundMe to help cover costs.

From the GoFundMe Page:

We all know Bill White as the beloved long-time owner of Fish in the Hood located in Park View off Georgia Ave. Bill always has a smile, joke and kind word for whomever is lucky enough to come by his seafood take-out restaurant that has become a landmark institution in the neighborhood for over 20 years. The community rallied around him as he struggled to reopen after the April 2017 fire and throughout the pandemic.

Now he needs our help more than ever. Bill has been hospitalized with a collapsed lung brought on by an undiagnosed infection that has left him weak and with breathing troubles. Like many small business owners that have been forced to decide which bills to pay during the economic crisis brought on by COVID, he does not have health insurance. Due to this medical emergency, he hasn't been able to operate his restaurant for over a month.

As he has supported the community all these years, please help Bill to receive the medical support he needs to recover. Bill hopes to be able to thank you in person when this latest challenge is behind him!

If you can help out Bill, please do!

Fish in the Hood is at 3601 Georgia Avenue NW
