There was a fire this weekend at a house on the 4800 block of Kansas Avenue that displaced a woman and her 91-year young father. They’re asking for support from the community to help cover costs for their immediate needs.

From the GoFundMe:

As many have heard, yesterday my mother’s home that she shared with my 91 year old grandfather caught fire last night and was deemed condemned. The house has been in our family for nearly 60 years. Three generations and countless others have resided in the house over that time. It was recently renovating to accommodate my aging grandfather's needs and wishes to remain in our family home.

Our family home caught fire last night during a family gathering. Thankfully, everyone was able to get out safely. We are extremely grateful that everyone is in good health. However, the fire has led to the displacement of my mother and grandfather. They lost nearly all of their possessions many of which were essential items and items of sentimental value that, unfortunately, cannot be replaced. As my family and I look to support my mom and grandfather as they adjust, I am asking for donations to cover some of their immediate and long term needs.
