In December 2017, the buildings that comprise 4231 through 4239 9th Street were purchased by Cathedral Property Partners, a DC developer that is bullish on Petworth and interested in bringing retail and restaurants, rather than residential properties.

In the upcoming election on November, one Single Member District, 4C08, looks to have a contentious race suddenly pop up with a write-in candidate, Leah Anderson, going up against long-time incumbent Commissioner Timothy Jones.

The Advisory Neighborhood Commissions are the first layer of political bodies in the District, with residents elected in non-partisan positions to represent approximately 2,000 other residents in a Single Member District. Some ANCs are really contentious, others work hard, and some others don’t do much. While some Commissioners who serve also fit the same description, serving is one of the best ways to be involved in the community
