A great opportunity: Apply to attend the US Park Police Citizens' Academy

The United States Park Police is holding it's next Citizens' Academy next month, and they're looking for people to apply to participate. I participated in the first Academy back in October 2016 and found it to be a fascinating experience and look into one of the oldest police departments in the United States -- one that started with only two officers!

I highly recommend participating in the Academy.

No, it's not a huge crime scene... it's "Beat the Streets," the annual street fair put on by MPD and DC agencies on 9th Street between Upshur and Taylor Streets NW. It started at 2pm and goes until 7pm on Wednesday, July 26th.

DPR announces options for Thursday kids movie night at Petworth Park

It took a bit of wrangling but the Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the movie for their Movie Night Out at Petworth Park (8th & Taylor Streets NW) on Thursday, July 27, 2017 8:30pm to 11pm... and apparently the movie that'll be shown will be up for a vote.

What do safer streets look like? WABA wants to show Ward 4

The Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) Bike Ambassadors are planning to hit the streets with Ward 4 residents for a mobile traffic safety workshop on Thursday, July 13th at 6:30pm. The workshop will consist of a 5-mile bike ride, and discussion about how to make intersections along the route safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Special attention will be paid to the intersections at 14th and Spring Streets and Georgia Avenue and Kennedy Street.
