Spring cleaning for old paint cans - drop 'em off for recycling!

PaintCare is back this spring with a unique cleaning event – an opportunity to drop off old paint cans free-of-charge at the Anacostia Recreation Center on Saturday, April 8. Regulations prevent homeowners and contractors from disposing of the paint via regular trash collection. But, thanks to DC’s Paint Stewardship Law, getting rid of that old paint just easy.

Join the Kennedy Street Development Corporation (KSDC) and the Community Alliance for Upper Fourteenth Street (CAUFS) at their next "District SOUP" event at the Back Alley Theater. Four neighbors will present community projects to help support the neighborhood, while all money generated will go to help one of those projects become a reality. And you get a vote.

There will be food, drink and music, courtesy of Petworth-area musician David Curtin on his guitar...

Come to a literary happy hour, raffle & fundraiser for the Petworth Library — with me reading Updike!

The Friends of Petworth Library is joining up with Petworth Citizen for a special happy hour to raise funds for the Library on Tuesday, March 21st from 5-7pm. There will be a raffle for some excellent books, and five locals will be reading their choice selections from authors who have March birthdays. Petworth Citizen will donate 10% of the alcohol sales during Happy Hour (5 -7pm) to the Friends group.

So come out and drink and listen to excerpts of the celebrated authors as read by local peeps -- including me reading from Rabbit, Run by John Updike.

Artist Cathy Abramson decided to live life differently and "look up from her phone" to create artwork and connect through the inspiration she’s found on Kennedy Street and the surrounding neighborhood.
