Read MoreDC Water, which runs the sewer and tap water system in DC, is temporarily changing the disinfectant they use to keep the system clean between March 7th and May 2nd. The change from chloramine to chlorine will result in a different smell and taste for tap water. DC Water recommends running the cold water tap for approximately two minutes and refrigerating tap water to reduce the chlorine taste and odor. Probably a good idea to use a filter.

From midnight tonight until 5am Thursday morning, Metro will be closed to conduct inspections of approximately 600 jumper cables across the full rail system (all 91 stations will be closed). If you take Metro rail to get to work or school, and plan on going in anyway, you'll need to find a different way to get around. Here's some options...
Each month, one of my favorite people on the DC Council, At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds, gives out awards recognizing members of the DC community who "make an extraordinary impact to the quality of life and general well-being of the residents of the District of Columbia." Recipients are nominated by other DC residents, and selected by CM Bonds' office. This month, Petworth's own Paul Ruppert was one of the three recipient's of the Community Cornerstone awards.
