I also took this step so I can better serve our community. My role requires me to respond in person to emergencies, visit local businesses, and interact with constituents on a daily basis. On March 6th and 7th, Mr. Braxton, in association with and supported by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Food and Friends, and nutrition expert Camille Range MPH RDN, among others, provided 700 meals across the city.

DPR to open summer camp registration on Monday, 3/22

The DC Department of Parks and Recreation will be opening summer camps children 3-13 years old at 38 locations across all eight wards. Camps will be open from 9-5pm, with pre- and after-care available. Campers participate in traditional camp activities with social distancing, hand hygiene and face covering guidelines in place. Registration begins on Monday, March 22nd at 12pm.

WMATA 14th Street "bus barn" renovation faces criticism

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) closed the garage for renovations in 2019. The subsequent renovation project plans to preserve the garage’s historic façade, while rebuilding and updating the infrastructure for new and future bus systems, installing new maintenance and paint facilities, and building new retail and community meeting spaces.

Meanwhile, neighborhood advocates fear the renovation plan preserves that status quo, including, they claim, dangerous levels of diesel fumes.

Baseball and softball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, golf, football, hockey, field hockey, volleyball, racquet sports… and so on. While there may be numerous options for some to play sports, many children are not given the opportunity to benefit from the mental and physical aspects of youth sports participation because the equipment is not affordable. After a terrible house fire, local resident needs support

In the early hours of March 3, fire trucks converged on Renee's Petworth rowhouse on the 500 block of Shepherd Street NW, where a fire had started in the bathroom. After two hours, and believing they had completely quenched the fire, DCFD left. Renee spent the night at her cousin’s and hoped that the damage would be repairable. Tragically, the fire re-ignited, and firefighters returned around 5am to find the house going up in flames.
