On Thursday, April 28th, poetry and song rang out across the south lawn of President Lincoln’s Cottage. The Cottage welcomed about 150 people for “Ride the Verse,” the annual poetry slam organized by the Roosevelt High School Poetry Club with the support of Friends of Roosevelt, a non-profit dedicated to supporting global students, the arts, athletics and more at Roosevelt.

Since the beginning of the school year, over 50 third graders at Dorothy Height Elementary School have been crossing 13th Street NW to take weekly swim lessons at nearby Roosevelt High School’s pool. The swim program at Dorothy Height is part of DCPS’s Health and PE program’s larger goal of teaching all DCPS students how to swim.

After a false start on February 1st due to snow, DC Public Schools starts Term 3 with some in-person learning at most elementary schools this week.
