During a global pandemic, someone actually stole a large, heavy... ceramic turtle?

Not a real image of the theft, but it was probably just like this.

A homeowner on Kansas Avenue NW, near Quincy and Randolph, reported that someone (or a couple of someones?) stole a large ceramic planter from her front yard in the middle of the night. The planter was full of soil and a plant, and at about 2 1/2 feet long and a foot and a half tall, was pretty heavy.

“It probably weighs about 70 pounds with the plant and soil in it,” the homeowner said. “They took it overnight. Would definitely be premeditated — it would require a car and two people to take it, and the plant!”

Granted, it’s a cool-looking turtle made by Tierra Fina. But who decides this is the thing to steal in the middle of the night? I mean, granted, one shouldn’t steal anything, but a heavy turtle planter in the middle of a pandemic? Really?

If you see the turtle, you can contact Petworth News and we’ll keep you anonymous.

Be safe and hurry home, turtle.
