El Torogoz restaurant on 9th Street, between Varnum and Upshur, owned by David Ventura, has been sold and is renamed Mary Bar & Grill Tex-Mex Restaurant. I stopped in for a chat with owner Mary Orellana and her daughter Roxana Castellon to discuss other changes besides the name.

If you loved the food from El Torogoz, you’ll love that many of those items are still on the menu for Mary Bar and Grill’s. They have an additional “special menu” that includes specially-made tacos, quesadillas and burritos, all of which are featured on the new kid's menu and are served with rice, fruit and apple juice.

A new appetizer includes cheese dip, homemade guacamole and elote loco. All served with chips and salsa.

Mary’s has applied for a liquor license that will allow them to sell alcoholic beverages to go. In the near future, they will also have their social media pages and website up and running to keep the community aware of all the cool things in store. In the meantime, feel free to stop by and say hello to these new friendly faces that are sure to put a smile on your face (and you in your tummy, too)!
