Second Annual Petworth Fashion Fest is Saturday, June 10th

By Rachel Maisler

On Saturday, June 10th at 11am, the 800 block of Upshur Street will once again transform into the fashion capital of the DMV. Organized by the owners of Willow Fashion and Fia’s Fabulous Finds, the Petworth Fashion Fest will feature nearly 40 clothing and accessory vendors, along with live performances from local DJs.

Several neighborhood eateries including Hank’s Cocktail Bar, Ruta del Vino, Timber Pizza Co. and Slim’s Diner will be open for brunch Saturday for the festival.

"Local designers and makers are an important part of a thriving retail community. Willow and Fia's both feature local artists and makers in store. The Fashion Fest highlights interesting creatives that are just getting started in the industry." says Julie Wineinger, owner of Willow.

Last year’s inaugural Fashion Fest was a great event that brought out over 1,000 fashion shoppers to Upshur Street. Julie tells us this year’s festival will have more vendors, more music and multiple DJs. She’s also hoping for cooler temperatures (forecast for Saturday at time of publication: 87 and sunny).

Vendors will offer vintage and new clothing, accessories, handmade crafts, food and coffee. Some artists, including Auggie Froggy, Fearless Threads,  AfroBaby, GoodloveDC, are local to Petworth.
